The FDA released the app FDA MyStudies, which can be found in app stores as COVID MyStudies, for patients to provide informed consent for traditional clinical trials, real-world trials, observational studies, and registries. The app is free, as resources permit according to the FDA, and allows an easy platform for both participants and investigators. “The agency is providing this resource after hearing that investigators were having difficulties obtaining informed consent for clinical trials when patients were in isolation rooms in health care facilities or could not travel to outpatient clinics,” the FDA stated. Outside of obtaining signed consent forms, investigators may also incorporate branding that is specific to the clinical trials being conducted.
