The European Medicine’s Agency (EMA) announced today (1/29) it’s approval of the AstraZeneca and University of Oxford’s COVID-19 vaccine. The approval marks the third vaccine passed by the EMA. The vaccine is administered as two doses, with the second coming between 4 and 12 weeks after the first initial to individuals over the age of 18. Emer Cooke, the EMA’s Executive Director, stated, “As in previous cases, the CHMP has rigorously evaluated this vaccine, and the scientific basis of our work underpins our firm commitment to safeguard the health of EU citizens.” The CHMP refers to the EMA’s human medicines committee.
