After participating in CSOFT’s Coffee and Conversations podcast in 2021, I felt honored being asked by Shunee Yee, the President and CEO of CSOFT and CSOFT Health Sciences, to write a blog series on pertinent topics in global clinical trials by showcasing my expertise in this field. As someone who has 30+ years’ experience working globally in biomedical research and development, my personal background includes years of working as a bench scientist in cardiology at the George Washington University, School of Medicine and in oncology at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland. Following my time as a bench scientist, I spent 20 years in various executive roles in clinical research organizations, in which I led multinational teams in Europe, Asia, Middle East, and Africa. In addition, I co-founded a training academy for clinical research professionals and founded a company that maintained up-to-date dashboards and visualizations of the global clinical trials (CT) scene. The company also introduced a range of geographic benchmarking tools, including the CT patient accessibility index and the country CT reputation index.
Over the next several months, I plan to utilize my experience from the field and the resources mentioned above to highlight clinical trial topics such as global industries, diverse assessments regarding the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war, the importance of patient diversity, challenges with patient recruitment, ‘Catch-22’ in resourcing of CTs, the concept of geographic CT reputation index, the consequences of significant gaps in patient accessibility to CTs globally, cultural considerations in CTs, and many more topics that I plan to shed some light on. I hope that you will enjoy reading these blog posts and look forward to hearing from you if you do!
Next week, look out for my post covering the impact of the Ukraine-Russia conflict on cross-border clinical trials.
